# Nodes

**Nodes** are the RPC endpoints (URLs) that RouteMesh sends consumer traffic to. In the provider portal, **Nodes** (under **Management**) is where you register, update, and manage these endpoints.

## **What are nodes used for?**

* Each node represents one or more RPC endpoints (e.g. for a given chain and region).
* When RouteMesh selects your provider for a request, it forwards the call to the appropriate node.
* Health, latency, and availability of your nodes affect routing decisions and your market share.

## **Managing nodes in the portal**

1. Go to [Provider portal → Nodes](https://routeme.sh/app/provider/portal/nodes).
2. Add a new node (endpoint URL, chain, region, and any labels or metadata your org uses).
3. Edit or remove nodes as your infrastructure changes.
4. Ensure nodes are associated with the right [Methods](/provider/methods) and [Plans](/provider/plans) so routes stay active.

## **Best practices**

* Keep endpoints up to date and remove or disable nodes that are retired.
* Use [Inspect](/provider/inspect) to monitor latency and errors per node/route and fix issues quickly.
