Gnosis Chiado Testnet is a blockchain network identified by chain ID 10200. It uses Chiado xDAI (XDAI) as its native token, with 18 decimals. Launched in October 2022, Chiado serves as a long-lived testnet optimized for developer tooling and to test "The Merge," Gnosis' transition from Proof-of-Authority to the Beacon Chain.
Chiado operates with a semi-permissioned validator set, similar to Ethereum's Sepolia testnet, to ensure stability for developers. Validators are run by core contributor teams at Nethermind, Gateway, and Gnosis. Community members can run full nodes and participate in the Chiado merge, with limited public validator participation to maintain network stability.
