About Dymension
Dymension is a modular blockchain ecosystem designed to facilitate the creation and deployment of application-specific blockchains, referred to as RollApps. Launched in February 2024, Dymension operates as a Layer 1 (L1) network, providing a decentralized settlement layer that offers security, interoperability, and scalability for RollApps. Developers can utilize Dymension's RollApp Development Kit (RDK) to build customized RollApps tailored to specific use cases, such as decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The Dymension Hub serves as the central coordinator, managing consensus and facilitating communication between RollApps. By leveraging the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, Dymension ensures seamless interoperability with other IBC-enabled chains within the Cosmos ecosystem. This modular architecture allows RollApps to focus on their unique execution logic while relying on the Dymension Hub for shared security and settlement.
Dymension's native token, DYM, plays a crucial role in the network's ecosystem. It is used for staking, securing the network, and participating in governance decisions. Additionally, DYM is utilized for transaction fees and liquidity provision within the Dymension Hub. This token-driven model aligns the incentives of validators, RollApp developers, and users, fostering a sustainable and decentralized network.
