About Polygon zkEVM
Polygon zkEVM is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, utilizing zero-knowledge rollups to enhance transaction throughput and reduce costs while maintaining Ethereum's security. Launched in March 2023, it offers developers a familiar environment for deploying smart contracts, tools, and wallets compatible with Ethereum.
The network supports a majority of Ethereum's EIPs, precompiles, and opcodes, enabling seamless migration of decentralized applications. Its native currency is Ether (ETH), with 18 decimal places. The network is identified by Chain ID 1101 and is accessible via various RPC endpoints.
In 2026, the Polygon zkEVM network is scheduled to sunset.
