About Taiko
Taiko Alethia is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, launched in May 2024 by Taiko Labs. It operates as a Type-1 Zero-Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) rollup, ensuring full compatibility with Ethereum's execution layer. This design allows developers to deploy existing Ethereum smart contracts without modification.
A distinctive feature of Taiko Alethia is its decentralized sequencing mechanism. Unlike traditional rollups that rely on centralized sequencers, Taiko Alethia utilizes Ethereum's Layer 1 validators to order transactions, enhancing decentralization and censorship resistance. This approach aligns with Ethereum's core principles of openness and integrity.
The network employs a multi-proof architecture, supporting various proof systems such as Zero-Knowledge proofs and Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) proofs. This flexibility allows Taiko Alethia to adapt to evolving cryptographic advancements without compromising security or performance. Additionally, Taiko Alethia uses Ether (ETH) as its native currency, maintaining consistency with Ethereum's ecosystem.
Taiko Alethia is identified by chain ID 167000 and is accessible through public RPC endpoints. Block explorers provide transparency and monitoring capabilities for the network.
