About X Layer Mainnet
X Layer Mainnet is a Layer 2 blockchain network developed by OKX, launched in April 2024. It utilizes the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) to provide a high-performance, Ethereum-compatible environment for decentralized applications.
The network employs a zkEVM validium architecture, combining zero-knowledge proofs with off-chain data storage to enhance scalability and reduce transaction costs. This design allows for faster and more efficient processing of transactions while maintaining security.
OKB serves as the native gas token on X Layer Mainnet, facilitating transaction fees and network operations. In August 2025, OKX optimized the OKB economic model by permanently capping its total supply at 21 million through a significant token burn. This adjustment aims to enhance the token's scarcity and value proposition within the ecosystem.
