About Boba Network
Boba Network is a Layer 2 scaling solution built on Ethereum, launched in August 2021. It utilizes an optimistic rollup architecture to enhance transaction throughput and reduce gas fees, while maintaining Ethereum's security guarantees.
A key feature of Boba Network is Hybrid Compute, which allows smart contracts to perform complex off-chain computations and access external data sources. This capability enables developers to create more sophisticated decentralized applications that can interact with real-world data and services.
In November 2022, Boba Network expanded its multichain support by deploying on BNB Chain, becoming the first Layer 2 solution on that network. This deployment aims to enhance scalability and offer low-fee computation to BNB Chain users.
Boba Network's native token, BOBA, is used for transaction fees and governance within the network. Users can pay fees in either BOBA or the native token of the underlying Layer 1 chain, with discounts available when using BOBA.
