About Arbitrum Nova
Arbitrum Nova is a Layer 2 blockchain network developed by Offchain Labs and launched in August 2022. It utilizes the AnyTrust protocol to enhance scalability and reduce transaction costs, making it particularly suitable for high-throughput decentralized applications (dApps) such as gaming and social platforms.
Unlike Arbitrum One, which employs the Rollup protocol, Arbitrum Nova relies on a Data Availability Committee (DAC) to handle transaction data storage and availability. This approach allows for lower fees by reducing the amount of data posted to the Ethereum mainnet, though it introduces additional trust assumptions due to the centralized nature of the DAC.
The network is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling developers to deploy existing Solidity smart contracts without modifications. This compatibility ensures seamless integration with Ethereum's tools and libraries, facilitating the migration of dApps to Arbitrum Nova.
Arbitrum Nova's native currency is Ether (ETH), with 18 decimal places, aligning with Ethereum's standards. Developers can interact with the network through JSON-RPC endpoints, similar to those used by Ethereum, ensuring a familiar environment for blockchain development.
