The network utilizes a Proof-of-Staked-Authority (PoSA) consensus mechanism, combining features from Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) and Proof-of-Authority (PoA). BNB, the native utility token of BSC, is used for various purposes within the ecosystem, including paying for transaction fees, staking to become validators or delegating to validators, and participating in on-chain governance.
