About Ethereum Hoodi
Ethereum Hoodi is a public testnet for the Ethereum blockchain, launched on March 17, 2025, to replace the Holesky testnet. It is designed for testing staking, infrastructure, and protocol development, providing a stable environment for these activities. Hoodi operates with a permissionless validator set and utilizes a merged-from-genesis architecture, integrating both the consensus and execution layers from the start. The network employs a Proof of Stake consensus mechanism and is identified by Chain ID 560048.
The native currency of the Hoodi testnet is Hoodi Ether (ETH), with 18 decimal places. Developers can interact with the network through various RPC endpoints. For monitoring and exploring the network, a block explorer is available. Additionally, a faucet is provided to obtain test ETH for development purposes.
Hoodi is intended for testing validator and staking functionalities, as well as network upgrades, and is not recommended for testing decentralized applications or smart contracts. For such purposes, the Sepolia testnet is advised. The network is planned to have Long Term Support (LTS) until December 2027 and an End of Life (EOL) in December 2028.
