About Linea
Linea is a Layer 2 blockchain network developed by ConsenSys, designed to enhance Ethereum's scalability while maintaining its security and decentralization. Launched in July 2023, Linea utilizes zero-knowledge rollups (zk-rollups) to process transactions off-chain, submitting compressed batches to Ethereum for validation. This approach significantly increases throughput and reduces transaction fees compared to the Ethereum mainnet.
As an Ethereum-equivalent network, Linea is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing developers to deploy existing Ethereum-based projects and assets without code modifications. This compatibility extends to various applications, including decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and gaming.
Linea's native currency is Linea Ether (ETH), which operates with 18 decimal places. The network is accessible through multiple RPC endpoints. For monitoring and exploring the blockchain, users can utilize block explorers.
