About Chiliz Chain
Chiliz Chain is a Layer-1 blockchain network developed by Mediarex Group, launched in October 2018. It is specifically designed to bridge the gap between the sports and entertainment industries and blockchain technology, enabling fan engagement through tokenization. The network utilizes the native token, Chiliz (CHZ), which operates with 18 decimal places.
As an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible blockchain, Chiliz Chain allows developers to deploy smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) using existing Ethereum tools and infrastructure. This compatibility facilitates the creation of fan tokens, NFTs, and other digital assets that sports teams and entertainment brands can use to interact directly with their audiences.
The network employs a Proof-of-Staked Authority (PoSA) consensus mechanism, combining aspects of Proof-of-Authority and Proof-of-Stake. This hybrid approach supports faster block times and reduced transaction costs, making it suitable for applications requiring high throughput and low latency. Validators on the network are selected based on the amount of CHZ they stake, ensuring a decentralized and secure validation process.
Chiliz Chain's primary use case is to support the Socios.com platform, where fans can purchase team-specific fan tokens to participate in polls, access rewards, and influence club decisions.
